Trevor made his first book safe in April of 2014 as a gift box for his girlfriend. It was made from an old dictionary and featured a ridiculously strong magnetic closure and LEDs that lit up like a refrigerator when it was opened. He filled it with jewelry, chocolate and knickknacks then wrapped it up and presented it to her. At first she was a bit confused trying to figure out why she had gotten a dictionary for her birthday, but that confusion quickly became delight when she discovered the treasures within!
Since then we have produced thousands of book safes, our process ever evolving in pursuit of mastery of the craft. BookRooks was created to share our hollow books with the world.
Trevor is the founder of BookRooks. He designs, produces, and photographs everything in our shop. Book safes are his passion and purpose in life, but he also enjoys woodworking, cooking, and the game of chess (hence the name BookRooks).
Jess is in charge of marketing. She also assists with day-to-day operations. In her free time, she enjoys belly dancing, the cello, and playing with Mr. Ridley (see below).
Mr. Ridley is our three-legged shop dog. He's mostly here for moral support (and biscuits).
